Cap and Trade, Or Crap This is a Tax!!!!

So our wonderful elected officials have gotten this boondoggle known as Cap and Trade through the House of Representatives. This was done with the help of eight, some might call them, Republicans. If these eight, as some might call, Republicans this bill would not have made it past the house.

Surprisingly, there were 43 Democrats with a stronger spine than these eight, and fewer people are now calling them, Republicans.

So what does Crap and Tax do? Well, it allows the government to set standards nationwide regarding everything that somehow affects the environment. Now, that is a wide brush I painted, and rightly so. Because now there will be some federal bureaucracy telling business how much pollutants they can release into the atmosphere, and how eco friendly they have to be.

The federal government will now mandate how many electrical outlets new homes will have and how big they will be. The simple fact is this; it will cost more money for businesses to comply, which in turn, will be passed onto you, the consumer. Wonderful plan, don't ya think?

Now, before some of you start to talk about how this will only raise my energy costs a few pennies a day, ask yourself why? Why would you sign onto anything right now that will raise your cost of living even if only a few pennies a day. Admittedly, by the Democrats even, we are in one the worst economic down turns in decades. Knowing that, why would anyone want to add to his or her cost of living? If you said it is because we have to save the planet, then where are the measurable? Herigate.org has a wonderful article here regarding the costs and benefits of this bill. Bottom line, this bill does very little to "save" out planet, and cost each of a ton to do so.

Then there are the costs no one wants to mention. If industries have to lower their carbon emissions, they will most likely have to purchase new equipment and technologies to do so. This cost will be directly passed onto the consumer. So that $1,29 pen you need, to write notes for your memoir, will no cost you $1.49. But hey, that's only an additional .20 cents, right? Well, on that item it is, but on others it could be $2.00, $40.00, $300.00, or, if you are purchasing a new home, thousands of dollars.

Simply put, Cap and Trade will raise the costs of just about everything manufactured in this country. Hold up, some of you just saw a light bulb go off. That’s right, I said "in this country." Yup, this disaster of a bill comes with the unintended consequence of even more industry moving off shore. And yep, our wonderful Democratic leadership will most likely be responsible for sending even more jobs over seas. Seems I’ve heard many a Democrat complain about this little issue. Weird, huh?

What can you do? It's not over yet. The bill has to now pass in the Senate. Call you Senator and wail against this boondoggle called Cap and Trade.

It's our government. Apparently, Congress needs to be reminded of that.
